Charles Thomas: British Tanker
Britain became involved in W.W.I because they singed a treaty with Belgium stating that they would protect Belgium if any one had attacked them. When Germany attacked them so Britain came to the aid of Belgium. Britain also did not want Germany to defeat France and Europe next. Some other causes of W.W.I were Germany and Britain were competing to build battleships. The Arch Duke. Franz Ferdinand
The ArchDuke Franz Ferdinand. He was in Sarajevo,Bosnia and the serbs were not happy with this at all. The serbs organized a terrorist group called "Black Hand" the plan was to kill him and then drink their poision. The first attempt was to throw a granade but it failed to work as well as the poision he drank he was captured and brought in for some Q and A. The rest of the terrorist down the road just watch him go by Gavrilo Princip. He went to get a sandwitch and saw the Archduke shot twice with his .22 cal. pistol killed both Franz Ferdinand and his wife. The Black Hand member drunk the poision and it failed also. The man who supplied the guns was cought some time later on a undercover mission and ratted the whole group out.
My Blog: Week 2, Dec. 15 The Schlieffen plan was a tactic used by Germany and the plan was to go through Belgium and into France and try to capture France to hold off the Russians. The plan was when the Germans came through Belgium, Britain would load up 200 of our best tanks and 500 thousands and alot of supplies troops and try to hold off the Germans in Belgium.
This is a poster of propaganda in Britain during the Great War. This poster is a recurting poster for all the young men and men to join the war and fight for the cause. The exit of Russia and the entry of the U.S.A.
When Russia left the war it didn't help us at all, as a matter of fact it hurt us. The reason it hurt us is beacuse the Germans and Italins had one less enemy to worrie about. When the United States came in it changed The Great War. The United States came into play because of the Zimmermin Note. The coded telegram stated
"On the first of February, we intend to begin unrestricted submarine warfare. In spite of this, it is our intention to endeavor to keep the United States of America neutral.
In the event of this not succeeding, we propose an alliance on the following basis with Mexico: That we shall make war together and make peace together. We shall give generous financial support, and an understanding on our part that Mexico is to reconquer the lost territory in New Mexico, Texas, and Arizona. The details of settlement are left to you.
You are instructed to inform the President [of Mexico] of the above in the greatest confidence as soon as it is certain that there will be an outbreak of war with the United States and suggest that the President, on his own initiative, invite Japan to immediate adherence with this plan; at the same time, offer to mediate between Japan and ourselves.
Please call to the attention of the President that the ruthless employment of our submarines now offers the prospect of compelling England to make peace in a few months". This message was decoded by the British cryptographers of Room 40. The message was givin to President Willson. He asked Congress to Declear War on Germany and Congress approved of this request of war.
Week 3, X-mas Break
Its Christmas and i am still in the tank. Some of the guys got out and are sociallising with the Germans, hell if you ask me i wouldent even spit in the direction of them let alone talk to them. Most of the men they were in the trench next to us me are out there having fun with the Germans and other stuff as i lay here on the top of my tank wait for the shot to ring out and it starts over again.

Treaty of Versailles
Our country was delighted and some thought it was harsh. It paid for the expenes to the British Empire, our navy once ruled the waves again to tiny Germany. Some did not like this treaty. The reason some didnt like it was because it would ruin Geramny some thought to the point of not bein able to fuction properly for a long while. My point of view on this is it helped me out i came back and Britain was a disaster in some places, well not to bad but it is all ok now the great war is over.
